Some weeks you get a quiet ten minutes to catch your breath. This wasn't one of them. Between a photo shoot, our second mastermind session, and the whole operation now rolling towards Goodwood Revival, it's been full on in the best way. Here's what's been going on.
Yesterday we had the cameras out at Baddow Park House, shooting a proper spread of the range: the Arthur and Henry wax jackets, the Churchill and Metropolitan, the Brecon waterproof jacket, and the full run of gilets. We also got the new men's and ladies' Henry and Arthur boiled wool gilets in front of the lens for the first time, along with the new quarter zips, which will be 100% cotton.
Our model for the day was Mike Pickin, another ex-soldier who reached out to me a few weeks back after seeing what we've been building and wanting to get involved. He took to it like a duck to water, and the ladies in the studio were rather taken with him too. Standing in alongside him was Grace, who works with us at Baddow Park House and stepped up without hesitation when we were short a model, and has been an absolute credit to everything this company stands for.
Behind the scenes, Hannah, founder of 40 and Co, has been down with her husband Dan and their little girl Ava, spending the week with us to properly understand the business in person. On shoot day she doubled up as stylist for both Mike and Grace, on top of everything else she's been across.
While the shoot was happening, Ruth and I were in our second mastermind session, and it was every bit as challenging as the first. Being pushed on what we've done, questioned on our future plans, and given a far broader way of thinking about everything within Lockwood isn't always comfortable, but it's exactly the sort of thing that sharpens you. Can't recommend it enough.
Back at the factory in Oldbury, Pav and his family have been firing through orders to get as much stock as possible ready in time for Goodwood. We're meeting him along the M40 this evening to pick up more of the wax jackets before the off.
As I write this, we're on the eve of day one at Goodwood Revival. Our team set off from Baddow Park House at five o'clock this morning to get the stand built and ready. Today we've also got two old friends of mine from my Cavalry days, Tilly and Archie, coming up to do some lifestyle shots around the Baddow Park estate before trading properly kicks off tomorrow.
Through all of it, I keep coming back to how lucky I am to get to do this daily alongside my wife. Ruth is a calming influence through the busiest of days, and more often than not the one reminding me of the thing I've completely forgotten about.
Almost forgot to mention it, though I doubt many of you missed it: the Lockwood British Defender was revealed on social media this week. If you've somehow been living under a rock in the world of Lockwood, head over to Instagram and take a look. It's going to turn a few heads.
If you believe in buying better, buying British, and buying things that last, you're in the right place. Every piece is made right here in the UK, built to last, and backed by our guarantee. Have a browse of the full range while we're out on the road.
God bless, God save the King.
