At Lockwood Smocks, we’re building more than outerwear we’re helping rebuild British manufacturing, one garment at a time. Every smock is soldier-designed and British-made top to bottom, keeping skills, jobs, and money in the UK. It’s hands-on, personal, and done properly because if it won’t stand up when it matters, it doesn’t leave us.
I spent 16 years thinking I’d be a career soldier, but like many stories, things took a turn. I ended up designing my own smock because I was fed up with what was out there so I wanted to do it right.
When I started, I didn’t expect it to become what it is now. I was firm on one thing: British manufacturing only. That choice is what fueled our growth. In just 15 months, I’ve gone from soldier to business owner. Now, as I step into civilian life, I’m still serving only this time, I’m helping build the economy by keeping everything British-made.
Unlike others who might say “British-designed” or “British-finished,” we’re only British-made top to bottom. That’s not just a detail; it’s the whole point.
I first met Jacob when he returned from a long deployment, he lived next to the pub where I worked, and that’s where it all began. Six years later, we’re building Lockwood Smocks together. As one of the directors, I keep the show calendar and events running smoothly.
And though I might have stumbled into the creative director role, I’m usually the one behind the camera, capturing Jacob’s every move. It’s been a surprising, incredible journey and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
I became part of Lockwood Smocks while Jacob and I were deployed in Cyprus. What began as helping him make the website look a bit better soon grew into fully tailoring the site, leading its SEO development, and eventually becoming a part owner of the business. My focus is making sure Lockwood’s story, values, and craftsmanship are represented honestly and clearly online.
I’m usually working behind the scenes on the technical side, keeping everything running smoothly and fixing issues before most people ever notice them. That said, I do love a country show and a good race day, so keep your eyes peeled. You might just spot me out and about.
