Churchills and Metropolitans Out the Door, Billy Aprahamian's Parade, and the Eve of Ideas Fest
There's a particular feeling when the weather finally turns and the phones and the packing table go quiet for about ten seconds before it all kicks off again. That's roughly where we are this week. Here's what's been going on.
The Churchills and Metropolitans Have Landed
The Churchill and Metropolitan have been collected from the factory and we're now getting them out the door and into people's hands. Timing couldn't be better the minute the weather starts to turn is exactly when people start thinking properly about a coat that's actually built for it, rather than one that just looks like it is. Our Best Start to a Month, Ever
We've had the best start to a month we've ever had on record. Consistently four or five jackets going out the door every single day, without fail. It's the kind of run that reminds you why we build things the way we do British made, guaranteed, meant to last and it's brilliant to see it landing with people the way it's meant to.
None of that happens without someone keeping the whole thing moving behind the scenes, and that's very much been Ruth. She is properly earning her keep at the moment, and it shows.
Billy Aprahamian's Parade
Over the weekend we headed over to see our sponsored trainer, Billy Aprahamian, for his parade of horses. Lovely to put faces to names and meet some of the owners in person quite a few of them went home with some proper British-made Lockwood pieces, which is always a nice sight. Days like that are a good reminder of why we sponsor the people and yards we do.
A Night In With Elite Thread Co
Last night we had Adam from Elite Thread Co up to Lockwood HQ. He'd been recommended to me by James Sinclair, and we ended up sat down together for the best part of an hour, going through everything we're doing here and talking through where I might be able to add value to him and his business down the line. Always good to have people like that in the building, conversations like that tend to pay off in ways you don't expect straight away.
The Eve of Ideas Fest
As I write this, we're on the eve of Ideas Fest. Ruth and I are heading down together, and on Thursday we'll be up on the main stage being interviewed by our business partner, James Martin. Already got a few meetings lined up with people who are interested in the business, which is always a good sign heading in.
