Funding Secured, a Mastermind in Essex, and the Biggest Order We’ve Ever Placed

This week Ruth and I were invited to become members of the Baddow Park Mastermind in Essex. Being in a room of business owners who are significantly further ahead than where I am right now was one of the most valuable things I’ve done since starting Lockwood. It accelerates your thinking in a way that’s hard to explain until you’ve experienced it. You stop asking small questions and start asking better ones. Two of the ideas you’ll read about below came directly out of that room which tells you everything about the value of surrounding yourself with the right people. We’re proud to be members and looking forward to what comes next from being part of that group.

Funding Secured — a Proper Milestone

For the first time since Lockwood began, we have secured funding that will allow us to carry full stock across the range. That is a bigger deal than it might sound. Running a self-funded, made in Britain brand means you get used to managing tight inventory and making every decision count. Having the ability to hold stock properly changes everything for us, and for the experience our customers get. This one has been a long time coming and we are genuinely delighted.

Lock In Your Price Before September

Here’s something worth paying attention to if you’ve been sitting on the fence. Our manufacturing costs are going up,  that’s the reality of doing things properly and paying fairly for British-made production.

Five Hours at the Factory

On Friday we sat down at the factory for five hours and placed the full September order. Every style, every colour, every size mapped out and committed to. It was one of those days that feels significant while you’re in it. The biggest order we’ve ever placed, for the most prepared we’ve ever been going into a new season. Watch this space.
