Night Shoots, New Hats & a Week in the Life of Lockwood Smocks
At Lockwood Smocks, we don’t just make British-made clothing we live it. Every product, every decision, and every piece of content comes from a place of genuine craft and real-world experience. This week was no exception. From golden-hour shoots in the shadow of Windsor Castle to a landmark product launch, here’s a look at what’s been happening behind the scenes.
Night Shoot:
Windsor & Eton
We kicked off the week with a night shoot around Windsor and Eton, one of the most iconic stretches of British heritage landscape you’ll find anywhere in the country. With the rooftops of Windsor as our backdrop, we captured some of our favourite images to date of two key pieces from the current Lockwood range, the Olive Sherpa Gilet and the LO Quarter Zip.
Shooting at night brings something different out of the clothing. The textures catch the light differently. The weight and structure of the garments become much more apparent. And against a backdrop like Windsor and Eton, the whole ethos of Lockwood built for life, not just a season just makes complete visual sense. These aren’t clothes for a trend cycle. They’re made for real places, real weather, and real wear.
Keep an eye on our Instagram @lockwood_smocks for the full image set from the shoot.
Back to Birmingham:
The 8 Panel Hats Are Here
Monday took me back up to Birmingham home of Lockwood Smocks’ manufacturing to check in on the final stages of one of our most anticipated accessories to date: the Lockwood 8 Panel Hat.
This one has been in development for a while. We’ve been quietly tweaking the design, getting the panels right, making sure the proportions sit the way they should on the head, and ensuring the quality of finish meets the standard you’d expect from a genuinely British-made product. It’s the kind of detail that doesn’t happen overnight and frankly, that’s the point.
I’m thrilled to say that the 8 Panel Hats go on sale tonight Monday 30th March at 7PM at lockwoodsmocks.com.
If you’ve been waiting on these, tonight’s the night. They won’t hang around.
Getting the Systems Right:
Mike Crawley Photography & Trello Integration
Building a British heritage brand from the ground up isn’t just about the product it’s about building the infrastructure behind it properly. This week I also visited Mike Crawley of Mike Crawley Photography, who has been a brilliant support in helping integrate our Trello and Google Drive systems.
Getting the back end of a creative business organised, shoot management, asset storage, content scheduling is unglamorous work, but it matters enormously. If the systems aren’t right, the creative output suffers. Mike’s been instrumental in helping us get that foundation solid, and I’m grateful for it.
The James Martin Podcast - Entrepreneur Conversations
This week also included an appearance on the James Martin Podcast, Entrepreneur Conversations with James Martin. It was a brilliant conversation covering the journey of building Lockwood Smocks: the manufacturing, the values behind the brand, and what it actually means to make something genuinely in Britain today.
If you’re interested in the business side of British-made fashion or just enjoy honest conversations about entrepreneurship it’s well worth a listen. I’ll share the full link as soon as the episode is live.
A Moment on the A12:
Sometimes Life Just Happens
Not every week goes to plan, and this one had a moment I won’t forget quickly. Driving along the A12, I came across a woman whose car had broken down and was stranded on the carriageway a genuinely dangerous situation. I got her vehicle safely off the A12, pushed it clear of live traffic, and got her across to a petrol station.
No fanfare. Just the right thing to do. I mention it here only because moments like that remind you what actually matters people over schedules, community over convenience. Values that, if I’m honest, sit at the very heart of what Lockwood Smocks is about.
