The Lockwood Maroon Boiled Wool Gilet
Depth of colour. British craft. Quiet confidence.
Some garments stand out without ever needing to shout.
The Lockwood Maroon Boiled Wool Gilet is built around one of the most respected natural materials in country clothing: heavyweight boiled wool. Naturally warm, breathable, and structured, it creates a gilet that holds its shape, layers easily, and develops character the more it is worn.
The deep maroon tone carries a quiet personal influence, drawn from the colours of the Household Division, where I served for over a decade and a half. It is a subtle nod to that heritage, woven into a piece designed for everyday use in the countryside.
Finished with a contrasting Harris Tweed collar, handwoven in the Outer Hebrides, the gilet blends two iconic British textiles into one understated and dependable layer.
Each piece is handmade in Birmingham in a third-generation family-run factory, reinforcing Lockwood’s commitment to British manufacturing and the preservation of traditional skills.
This is not fast fashion.
It is a timeless countryside layer built for warmth, substance, and quiet British character.
British-made. Purposeful. Built to last.
