There are moments in business where you look up and think, how on earth has this happened so quickly? This is one of them.
On 5 February, Lockwood Premium British Smocks will be the Title Sponsor for a full raceday at Huntingdon Racecourse one of Britain’s proper, traditional homes of jump racing. Huntingdon is a National Hunt track in Cambridgeshire that stages a full season of Jump fixtures from autumn through spring, and it’s proudly part of The Jockey Club family of racecourses.

And here’s the best bit…
It started with one race… then I took the whole day
I was offered the chance to sponsor a single race.
A sensible person might have nodded, smiled, played it safe, and taken the one.
That’s not how I’m built.
So I sponsored the day.
Not because it’s easy. Not because it’s “normal” for a young brand. But because if Lockwood is going to show up in British sport, in British racing, I want to do it properly. Full commitment. Full energy. No half measures.
A massive milestone for a young British brand
Lockwood Premium British Smocks is just over a year into this journey, and becoming a title sponsor at a respected British racecourse is a serious marker in the ground.
Huntingdon is loved by jump racing fans, known for a friendly atmosphere, and it hosts proper National Hunt days that matter to people who follow the sport.
For me, this isn’t “just marketing”. It’s proof of momentum — proof that a founder-led British brand, built with intent, can force doors open when it refuses to drift.
Why British jump racing matters to me
I’ve always loved the grit of jump racing the honesty of it. It’s not polished for show. It’s hard, brave sport, as I say about the event riders "They are the well spoken psychopaths that walk amongst us" and you feel that in the stands and at the rails.
Huntingdon is a proper jumps racecourse, and it sits under The Jockey Club, which is right at the heart of British racing.
The bigger dream really is taking Mum to Cheltenham… as a sponsor
Every year, me and my mum go to Cheltenham Festival. That’s been our mother and son tradition since leaving the cavalry.
And I’ll be honest with you a big part of why this Huntingdon title sponsorship means so much is because I can see the line it draws forward.
This is step one.
One day, I want to take Mum to Cheltenham not just as spectators — but with Lockwood sponsoring at Cheltenham. That’s the target. That’s the vision. The kind of “outrageous goal” that pulls you forward when you’re tired, when things get difficult, when you’re wondering if you’ve bitten off too much.
We’re just getting started
I’ve got big plans for the future of Lockwood Premium British Smocks — not vague plans, not “one day” plans. Real plans.
More product. More British manufacturing. More presence in the places that feel authentic to the brand: the country, the field, the racing world — and the people who live in that space.
If you’re reading this as someone building something of your own, here’s what I believe:
A young company, led by a founder who’s genuinely driven, can achieve ridiculous things in a short amount of time — if they stop waiting to be chosen and start choosing themselves.
That’s what this is.
