Last weekend, Ruth (my fiancée) and I headed over to the iconic Rundle Cup at Tedworth Park Polo Club—and what a brilliant day it was.
The sun was out, the ground was firm, and the whole place was buzzing with energy. As always, we weren’t just there to enjoy the polo—we were there to meet people, showcase the Lockwood Premium British Smocks collection, and keep building the community around British-made country wear.
Meeting Familiar Faces… and New Ones
One of the most surreal moments of the day was having a handful of people come up to us and say they’d seen us online and had been wanting to meet us for ages. That never gets old. Hearing that the brand’s message is resonating—especially with people who genuinely care about quality, longevity, and British manufacturing—is what keeps me pushing this forward.
We also met plenty of new faces who hadn’t come across Lockwood before. That’s always exciting—when someone picks up one of our waxed jackets or tries on a 100% wool gilet for the first time, you see that moment of “ah, this is proper kit.” There’s something powerful about someone realising they’re holding something that’s handmade in Britain, designed by a soldier, and built to last.
Knowledge Shared Between Exhibitors
As is so often the case at these events, one of the best bits was speaking with fellow exhibitors. A lot of them have been in the game a long time—decades longer than me—and they’re generous with their knowledge. Whether it’s about refining our natural fabrics, improving stall layouts, or simply building a stronger presence in the equestrian and countrywear world, it’s those conversations that give me the next steps to take.
The Bigger Picture – Supporting British Craft
Lockwood Smocks was founded on a clear purpose: to support British manufacturing, to champion natural materials, and to create hard-wearing, soldier-designed clothing for people who live and breathe the outdoors—whether that’s in the saddle, on the hill, or behind a camera lens in the wild.
Days like the Rundle Cup are reminders that we’re not alone in that mission. There’s a growing movement of people who care about supporting local, who want to buy less but buy better, and who appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into every waxed smock, every boiled wool gilet, and every stitch of our gear.

Why We Keep Showing Up
The Rundle Cup wasn’t just another day at a show. It was a reflection of what the Lockwood brand stands for—community, British grit, quality craftsmanship, and timeless countrywear that’s made to go the distance.
If you saw us there—thank you for stopping by. If you didn’t, we’ll see you at the next one.
And if you’re new to Lockwood and what we do, have a look around the website. From vintage-inspired wax jackets to 100% British wool gilets, everything we make is grounded in utility, purpose, and pride in where it’s made.
